Before traveling to Cyprus for your surgery, you will complete a detailed questionnaire to help the medical team assess your eligibility. Ten days before arrival, you will receive pre-operative instructions to prepare physically and mentally for your surgery. Additionally, your surgeon will review your medical records and may request a consultation with a physical therapist for pre-surgery exercises to aid in your recovery.

Before the surgery, you may undergo a physical examination and imaging tests like CT scans and ultrasounds to evaluate the lymph nodes and assess the extent of cancer. A new set of X-rays will also be taken upon your arrival in Cyprus.
Risks can include infection, bleeding, and lymphedema. However, our skilled team follows strict protocols to minimize risks, ensuring safe and effective care.
Post-surgery, most people take about 2 weeks to recover. You can resume most normal activities, but avoid strenuous activities like high-impact exercises until your surgeon gives you permission. If you notice sudden swelling, contact your surgeon immediately. You should also refrain from driving for at least a week.
After pelvic lymph node dissection, there is a risk of developing Lymphedema, a condition where fluid accumulates and causes swelling, especially in the arms or legs. To minimize the risk, you will receive instructions on how to care for the affected area, including avoiding heavy lifting, tight clothing, and harsh sun exposure. You may also be advised to use a protective electric razor for shaving and wear protective gloves when handling abrasive materials.
Follow-up appointments are essential for monitoring your recovery. Your surgeon will provide post-operative instructions, and regular check-ups will help detect any complications, including monitoring calcium levels, which may drop after surgery due to the disruption of parathyroid glands.
