Prostatectomy

Prostatectomy A Prostatectomy is the surgical removal of the Prostate Gland, or part of it. Abnormalities of the Prostate, such as a tumor, or if the gland itself becomes enlarged for any reason, can restrict the normal flow of urine. There are several approaches to performing a Prostatectomy, with each having their specific application:

Orchiectomy

Removal of the testicle in some cases can resolve pain. However, this is the last resort because all of the function is lost from the testicle, like production of testosterone and sperm. If other methods do not work, this can cure some men.

Denervation

In this surgery the nerves that run to the testicle are clipped leaving the blood supply intact as well as the testicular function. This can be a very effective method of resolving the problem; it is done through a small incision in the groin.

Removal Of The Epididymis

When pain is localized to the epididymis then removal of the gland from the back of the Testis with a small surgery may cure the pain.

Vasectomy Reversal

Men that develop pain from a Vasectomy may respond to reconnecting the sperm tube in order to restore the flow of sperm out of the testicle. We think pain can arise in men after vasectomy because of pressure in the testicle from the continued production of sperm. This is rare, but in some men can…

Urethral Stricture

Urethral Stricture refers to any narrowing of the Urethra for any reason - whether or not it actually impacts the flow of urine out of the bladder and is significantly more common in men and boys compared to women and girls. Radical Nephrectomy

In a radical nephrectomy, the surgeon removes the whole kidney, the fatty tissues surrounding the kidney and a portion of the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder (ureter). The surgeon may remove the adrenal gland that sits atop the kidney if a tumor is close to or involves the adrenal gland.

Partial Nephrectomy

In a partial nephrectomy, also called Kidney-Sparing Surgery: the surgeon removes a cancerous tumor or diseased tissue and saves as much healthy kidney tissue as possible.

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (Pcnl) And Nephrolithotripsy

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and Nephrolithotripsy are both used to remove kidney stones. For kidney stones larger than 2 centimeters in size or for hard stones, the more invasive but extremely effective therapy called Percutaneous Nephrostolithotomy is generally recommended. Both procedures performed under general anesthesia and the surgeon accesses the kidney through a small incision in…
